Great Reading for February
February is the shortest month of the year, but nonetheless a busy one for readers. February is the month when a new Grisham book greets us each year. The title this year --- The Last Juror. This year we also have a new Daniel Silva book to look forward to --- A Death in Vienna, which will be in stores on February 23rd.

We also celebrate Valentine's Day and enjoy a long weekend for President's Day. The way we see it, February is a good month for reading. Read on and see what we are recommending you take a look at, as well as news about some author websites we think are worth exploring!

Make the most of the extra day this year on the 29th.

The Blessing Stone by Barbara Wood - A Reading Guide and Special Opportunity to e-Mail the Author!
http://authorsontheweb.pmail.biz/pmailweb/ct?id=98+0+97+1+9102
THE BLESSING STONE is a sweeping epic that chronicles the history of humanity as it traces the path of a mysterious blue stone. The history of the world unfolds as the stone is passed from generation to generation, and across 5 continents from the Jordan River Valley to ancient Israel, from Imperial Rome to Medieval England, from fifteenth-century Germany to the eighteenth-century Caribbean and finally to the pioneers of the American West. Wood's 19th novel is comprised of eight individual books linked by a common thread.

To celebrate the trade paperback release of THE BLESSING STONE, we share a special offer --- from January 22nd through April 9th book clubs and readers are invited to write Barbara Wood, the author of THE BLESSING STONE to ask her questions about the writing and research of the book.

ReadingGroupGuides.com --- another website from TheBookReportNetwork.com --- interviewed Barbara and we encourage you to review her replies to our questions before you pose your own questions to ensure that you are not duplicating a previously asked question. Email her at barbara@barbarawood.com. We will share the most poignant questions and Barbara's replies at a later date.

Details about the opportunity to e-mail Barbara Wood can be found at

Bookreporter.com Talks To Joyce Maynard, author of The Usual Rules
http://authorsontheweb.pmail.biz/pmailweb/ct?id=100+0+99+1+9102
Jesse Kornbluth and Carol Fitzgerald, co-Founders of Bookreporter.com interviewed Joyce Maynard, author of The Usual Rules. Read on to learn why Maynard used 9/11 as the backdrop for her story, as well as why writing this book had such a personal impact on her. See why The Usual Rules is a great discussion book for book clubs (and the books that Maynard suggests pairing it with), as well as how Wendy, the teen protagonist has had an impact on younger readers.

The Usual Rules is a coming-of-age story, a story about discovering family and a story about healing. Thirteen-year-old Wendy must cope with the loss of her mother, who died in the World Trade Center on that fateful day in September 2001. She moves to California to live with her father, who has been absent for years. Torn between her old life in Brooklyn and a new one three thousand miles away, Wendy is faced with a world where the usual rules no longer apply --- and life must go on without them. Reviewed by Sarah Rachel Egelman.

While many of you know suspense/thriller authors like John Grisham, James Patterson and David Baldacci, the goal is to take readers behind the work of authors who are still not household names, but should be. We'll explore their new books --- and their past ones, known in the industry as the backlist. By the end of the year the goal is that you will have met 12 new authors, read 12 new books --- and had the opportunity to learn about dozens more. Our February featured author is Reed Arvin, author of The Last Goodbye (in stores February 17th), Clinton McKinzie is our March author with Crossing the Line (in stores April 27th) and our January featured author was Joseph Finder whose new book Paranoia is a New York Times bestseller.
